(A) I definitely undermined phase one. While I was able to keep up, unfortunately, life tends to happen and I had to rearrange my priorities constantly. What I would like to do differently in the future is make sure to stay on top of the material. I definitely will make sure that there is a specific, designated time for me to get my eggs so that why I don't get interrupted by others.
(C) I definitely want to put the skills that I am learning into my other coursework. That way it's being practiced but I can also see what is helping me be more effective and attentive to details.
(D) I recently got back into photography. I took a small break as I was taking portraits as a side hustle and I wasn't having as much fun as I would just naturally. I am also trying and rating coffee shops again. I had to stop from September to January so I could save for school and end-of-year expenses!
Here are some photos from the past month that I took! I hope you enjoy them just like I did!
P.S. If you have any coffee shop recommendations, please let me know!

Hey Ashley,
ReplyDeleteI really liked reading your reflection, it’s super relatable! I also underestimated how quickly everything would start to pile up, so I totally get having to shift priorities around. Your plan to block out specific time to work without interruptions sounds like a great idea, and I might try that too.
I agree with you on the Themes, Styles, and Templates section. I usually stick to Google Slides, but after learning more about what PowerPoint can do, I’m definitely going to play around with it more.
It’s cool how you’re applying what we’ve learned to your other classes, that’s such a smart way to make the skills stick. And your photography is amazing! That shot of the truck is so cool. Glad to hear you’re getting back into it and exploring coffee shops again too. ^-^
Looks like your found a kindred spirit in Sky, Ashley :-)
ReplyDeleteYes, sometimes you need to designate a time block to focus on one task/topic so you can focus on it and do it well instead of doing it fast!
Thank you for sharing your photography with us ^_^
Hi Ashley,
ReplyDeleteThis was such a great read, totally relate to having to juggle life and school at the same time. It’s awesome that you’re setting new routines to stay on top of things!
Also, yes to using your Word skills in other classes, such a smart way to reinforce what you're learning.
And wow, glad to hear you’re back into photography and coffee shop hopping! Can’t wait to see your photos, bet they’re amazing!
If you haven’t been yet, try Vesta Coffee Roasters or Mothership on Charleston and Casino Center Blvd, they’ve got great vibes and even better brews!
Hey Ashley, you have a real talent in photography and a great eye. You should do more and start a collection because they look incredible.
ReplyDeleteUsing Themes, Styles, and Templates makes your document pop and presentable. Using them will tell how much effort and time you have put in to present the best document.
Ashley, this blog looks very good. It is so impressive and detailed. Looks like this is a natural setting for you, the blogging. I really like your photos and at first. I hope to see more of them in other posts.
ReplyDeleteHi Ashley! The photos you took look amazing! Ooooh coffee shop recommendations, I got you! Yaw Farm Coffee Roaster is close to the CSN Charleston Campus that has great lattes, and their quality is always consistent. The only downside is that it is takeout only and their hours are short, so I suggest you check it before going if you’re interested. Another coffee shop I recommend is Phin Smith. I am not sure if they still have it on the menu, but I got an apple strudel iced latte last time and it was my favorite so far. It can get busy in there so if you plan on studying there, I recommend bringing some headphones. :)
ReplyDeleteI totally get how life can throw things off track sometimes—definitely the story of my life! I think it's awesome that you're planning to set aside dedicated time for studying. Also, I agree—Microsoft’s themes and styles are way more flexible! Great idea to apply these skills to other coursework too. I love that you’re getting back into photography and coffee shop hunting—sounds like a perfect way to recharge. I’ll definitely keep an eye out for coffee shop recommendations!
ReplyDeleteAshley, thank you for sharing your photography with us! I really like how you added your own original photos for a personal touch on your blog! I, too, am guilty of allowing personal life get in the way of study/completing coursework.... but who hasn't!! I think it's great that you are able to reassess your priorities and make the changes you need to stay successful in IS101 :)
ReplyDeleteHello Ashley!
ReplyDeleteI believe if you have a plan you will succeed in staying on top of the course work. I believe you can do it.
Using themes was a delight to learn, for sure! It makes all the work pop up and look better when presenting the document.
Thanks for sharing such a real and reflective post! I totally get what you mean about life happening it’s tough juggling everything, but it’s great that you were still able to keep up. Setting a designated time to focus sounds like a smart move going forward. I also liked your take on Themes and Styles I agree that Microsoft’s version feels more customizable. That’s cool you’re planning to apply those skills to other coursework too; that’s the best way to really lock them in. And wow, that’s awesome you’re back into photography and coffee shop hopping! Can’t wait to see your photos.I really like coffee and Beans, check it out see if you like it too
ReplyDeleteHey Ashley, I love the theme and colors of your page. I am also making it a goal to stay on track, even though I sometimes fall behind on discussion posts. Out of all the coffee shops you have visited so far, which one has been your favorite?
ReplyDeleteHi Ashley, just like you I also want to put the skills I learned through this class into other things such as work. I think that's one huge benefit for this class, because you can actually use it. Also what kind of camera do you use? I have been trying to get into photography but I haven't bought a camera yet.
ReplyDeleteHi, I love your pictures. I also made it a goal to keep up with work being published. Awesome colors you got going on!
ReplyDeleteHi Ashley, I couldn't agree more! I undermined Phase 1 a little too but I'm happy to see how determined you are! Keep up the photography, you really have an eye for it!
ReplyDeleteI have learned so much on Microsoft word that I didn’t know before and when it came to writing papers for my other classes it helped me tremendously. Photography sounds fun, I’ve always wanted to try that for the fun of it. Coffee is delicious and that’s an amazing hobby to have.
